Project Description

What is Sanguinol ®?
Sanguinol ® is a natural, green herbal feed additive and high-performance AGP alternative, formulated with Macleaya cordata extract (also found in other products like Sangrovit ®*) as its core ingredient, which delivers standardized sanguinarine and chelerythrine — bioactive benzophenanthridine alkaloids (QBAs) renowned for their antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and immune-modulatory properties.
Note: Sangrovit ® is a registered trademark of a Germany-based company and is not affiliated with this product.
Specifically designed as non-antibiotic growth promoters, Sanguinol supports sustainable livestock production by:
  • Reducing amino acid degradation in feed
  • Enhancing protein retention via inhibition of L-amino acid decarboxylase (Drsata, 1996)
  • Promoting growth performance through modulation of the Trp-serotonin pathway (Mellor, 2001)
How Does Sanguinol® Work?
Sanguinol controls inflammation
by blocking NF-κB overactivation
through its targeted inhibition of IκB modifications.
Benefits of Anti-Inflammation
For Which Species?
  • Swine: In weaned piglets, growing pigs, late gestation and lactating sows, it has the effects of promoting growth, anti-stress, and improving intestinal health.
  • Poultry: Sanguinol can increase feed intake and weight gain of broilers, reduce feed-to-meat ratio; improve intestinal health, improve diet digestibility, reduce overfeeding; enhance body resistance, prevent disease infection; improve egg production rate, reduce mortality rate. It can also prevent and treat Salmonella and Clostridium perfringens infections in broilers. Alaeldein M. Abuda-bos and other studies reported that benzophenanthridine alkaloids from Sanguinol could reduce the intestinal tract damage of broiler chickens challenged with Salmonella typhimurium, promote broiler’s growth performance and gut health. G. D. Xue et al. reported that the alkaloids extracted from Sanguinol can promote the recovery of growth performance and meat production performance of broiler chickens challenged with Clostridium perfringens, and lower the score for lesions of duodenum, jejunum and ileum in challenged broiler chickens. On-site farm in Duhok University, a flock was infected by IB and avian flu, adding Sanguinol WS reduced mortality rate significantly at a dosage of 120g/1000L water.
  • Ruminants: Prevention of Cryptosporidia, Mastitis and metritis.
  • Aquaculture: It can kill many parasites that threaten the production of aquatic animals, such as Schistosoma japonicum, ringworm and melon worm, and it can promote growth, improve immunity, improve health and other aquatic animals, such as perch, red tilapia, koi, carp, and South American shrimp. On red tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus), compared to the control group, the allochthonous lactic acid bacteria (LAB) populations were lower (Mark D. Rawling et al., 2009).
Sanguinol can be mixed with premixes, feeds, minerals, milk replacers and drinking water.
